Project overview

The project is based on a real-world scenario. I have acted as a Principal Cloud Architect and created an executive presentation of infrastructure cost for an SAP migration project from On-Premises to AWS.

SAP workloads run in a Corporate data center with the environment divided into Development/Test Layers, Quality Assurance — QA, and Production. In above environment has Application Servers, Load Balancer, Block Storage, NSF Storage, and Oracle Database.

My mission was to show the estimated costs of migration to AWS. For the return on investment (ROI), I have considered for an executive-level strategy three years of terms for this infrastructure to run on AWS.

Compiling the above into DataSheet will help me in estimation.

I employed the tool “AWS Pricing Calculator” to gauge expenses. This tool generated a cost estimate, factoring in a 3-year discount. In addition to being more cost effective than traditional physical infrastructure, the cloud model offers even better pricing for extended-term arrangements. Notably, support, the most expensive element on the list, guarantees heightened security through its 15-minute resolution time for critical systems. Consequently, the clients who migrate to the cloud not only save money but also benefit from the assurance of reliable support during emergencies, ensuring financial savings and peace of mind.

To keep the criticality of the business in mind, I have added a support estimate to the account. Click Add support button

After entering all data into Pricing Calculator, we have the following Estimate. Click the export dropdown and select ‘CSV format’ so that I would create the PowerPoint presentation with it.
